About the project

With feet on the ground or on the peddle, my research participants had a blast with this exploratory field research of UNT campus desire paths.

  1. Industrial sidewalk chalk was strategically used in testing prototypes
  2. Campus exterior bike lanes on city streets were explored and tested
  3. Every known desire path, paved or unpaved was documented
  4. All non-vehicle signage was located and tested for efficacy

Project results

I used a bicycle and go-pro camera to document bicycle lane prototype users safely navigating around campus foot traffic via skateboards, rollerblades, and scooters.

  • Bicycle lane curtesy signage was improved and photographed in its context of use
  • My colleagues who saw the prototypes around campus and were impressed
  • Testing only lasted one day due to rainfall that washed away the prototypes
  • Consent was acquired and disclosure was given when recording
